Inspiration: Gold Coins and a Selfish Man

Ash was a very greedy and selfish boy. He wanted lots of money and never hesitated to cheat others to earn it. He never wished to share anything with others. He was so selfish he wouldn’t even give up a toy once he was done playing with it. Wherever he went, he deceived and lied to people in order to save the things he liked.

One day at lunch on the school playground Ash dropped twenty dollars on the ground. He looked for his money the entire lunch and had no luck. When the bell finally rang he told all his fellow classmates that if they found the money, they should immediately return it. Later on that day Bee was playing on the swings and noticed a twenty-dollar underneath the wood chips. She moved aside the wood, picked up the bill, and immediately knew that it was Ash’s. Being the honest girl that she is, Bee returned the money back to Ash even though she needed the money for food.

She went back inside and gave the money to Ash. Ash was delighted to have his money back and decided to play a little trick on Bee. He shouted at Bee “Why have you only brought me twenty dollars? I lost forty dollars! You have stolen it!”

Bee, shocked by what Ash just said, explained to him that there was only one twenty-dollar bill and she didn’t steal the other one. The selfish and greedy Ash did not accept it and decided to take the matter to Ms. Teacher. Both Ash and Bee told their story about the missing twenty dollars to Ms. Teacher and Bee assured her that there was only twenty dollars on the ground.

Ms. Teacher asked Ash if he actually dropped forty dollars and he replied “Yes, Ms. Teacher. I had dropped forty dollars and Bee only gave me twenty in return. She has stolen it!” Ms. Teacher asked, “Are you sure you had forty dollars in your pocket, not twenty?” Ash nodded his head. Ms. Teacher knew right away that Ash was lying and she made her decision on what to do. “Since Ash lost forty dollars, and the amount found by Bee was only twenty dollars, that twenty dollars doesn’t belong to Ash and it was lost by someone else.

In addition, If anyone found forty dollars on the ground, I would declare it belongs to Ash. There were no claims against the loss of twenty dollars, therefore I declare that twenty dollars to Bee as a token of appreciation for her honesty!”
