Mo Saves the Day

There were many kids at Emerald City Elementary School but Ms.Teacher only chose the four best students to help set up for the end of school party. Those four kids were Bee, Ash, Alex, and R-Jay. One of the other children in Ms.Teacher’s class was named Mo. He however was different from all the other students, Mo was much shorter and smaller than everyone. His difference in size caused all the other kids to laugh at him and not let him take part in their games. This caused Mo to feel very lonely and sad.

The day before the end of the school party Mo asked Ms. Teacher if he could help with setting up. Ms. Teacher liked Mo very much but setting up for the party was a very hard job, so she suggested that he try to help another year when he had grown some more. The other kids overheard what happened and ridiculed Mo for even trying. Mo got so upset he ran home crying. However, the next day a huge storm hit an hour before they started setting up the party. This storm caused the power to go out and without electricity, Ms. Teacher and her helpers were not able to set up for the party.

As Ms. Teacher was on her way to start the backup generator she encountered a problem. The room where the generator was had been filled with so many boxes over the years. There was only a tiny passage that nobody could fit in to get the generator on. She began to worry because she knew how excited the children were for the party and didn’t want to let the storm ruin it for everyone. Suddenly she remembered Mo and his small stature. She thought that he may be small enough to fit through the small passage to get to the generator.

Ms. Teacher ran over to Mo’s house to find him. When Mo opened the door he was so surprised and excited to see Ms. Teacher standing right in front of him. Ms. Teacher told Mo what was going on with the generator and he immediately agreed to help and so they both ran back over to the school. All the kids watched as Mo crawled into the darkroom to turn the generator on and were so impressed with his bravery to do that in the darkness. Eventually, Mo found the generator and turned the power on for the whole school. The rest of the helpers were so impressed with what Mo did that they worked extra hard to set everything up in time. As all the kids began to walk in for the party the finishing touches were put up and the celebration was ready to begin.

The party was saved and Mo was named the hero of the day, even receiving a medal for being the best helper. From that day on Mo was never made fun of again and was always included in all the games.
